Suivre le hockey de la LNH au Japon / Following NHL Hockey In Japan

Je vous avais déjà fait part de ma crainte de ne plus pouvoir suivre le hockey de la LNH sur une base régulière un coup installé au Japon. Ça fait déjà un an de cela, c'est pour vous dire combien ça me tenait à coeur. Certains m'ont suggéré d'aller dans un pub canadien à Shibuya (qui est par ailleurs fermé), d'autres m'ont parlé d'un poste TV spécialisé disponible au Japon qui de temps à autre présente un match des Canadiens, etc... Je suis heureux d'annoncer que le problème est dorénavant réglé grâce à un machin qu'on nomme Slingbox. Il suffit d'avoir une gentille complice à Montréal qui a l'amabilité de brancher le Slingbox sur sa boîte de câble et sur l'Internet. Ensuite, il ne reste qu'à installer le Slingplayer sur son ordinateur et le tour est joué. J'ai regardé Tout le monde en parle le lundi matin dernier (décallage horaire oblige) et l'image était parfaite. J'ai aussi regardé le deuxième match préparatoire des Canadiens contre les Penguins. Bien que l'image était un peu moins claire, c'était tout à fait regardable comme en témoigne la photo. Je suis fin prêt pour la saison...au grand dam de ma femme.

About a year ago I posted a blog entry in which I expressed some concerns regarding the possibilties of following NHL hockey on a regular basis in Japan. Some people suggested me to watch games from a Shibuya pub (now closed), others informed me of a specialized sport channel that sometimes aired Habs games, etc... Well I'm proud to say my dilemma is now over thanks to a device called Slingbox. All you need is someone willing to connect the Slingbox on both their cable box and Internet back in Canada. Then you just need to install the Slingplayer on your computer and you're all set. I've watched a few TV programs so far, including an off-season game between the Canadiens and the Penguins. All I can say is it was great, the image was clear enough. The Habs can now count on a loyal fan in Tokyo and there might be more to come! Just keep in mind it won't be Hockey Night in Canada down here but Hockey Morning in Japan instead. Anyway, much to my wife's discontent I'm now fully ready for NHL season 2007-2008!
